Artist Statement:
" Surfing is my vehicle to spirituality, Art is my expression of my experiences"

I am a self-taught artist other than the few things I remember in my art classes in high school. Instructor: Robert B. Davis was a huge influence in my life as a teacher, artist and a friend. He is one of the funniest people I have ever met and truly a free spirit. I wish I had paid more attention in class!

My approach to my art is very much like my approach to riding waves and how I live my life. I just go for it and hope for the best. The first big step is believing you can actually do something, putting aside your doubts and any preconceived notions about what's possible and what isn't and not caring about how you may be judged. In other words the biggest block would be fear. I have a saying that I do my best to live by everyday (especially paddling out in big surf) and that is " FAITH OR FEAR? YOU MAKE THE CHOICE."

When I approach a fresh canvas or blank sheet of paper I just tell myself that there is no such thing as failure, there is only expression. I also think in abundance and use whatever I need knowing there will always be more. These thoughts are what free me up to create.
